2023 Tai Chi Seminar

Beyond the Form: North America KiMudo Association's first seminar Saturday, September 9th 10 am - 1 pm and 3 pm - 6 pm Saturday, September 9th 9 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 5 pm

Elkhorn Martial Art Center is excited to host the North American KiMudo Association‘s first official seminar: Beyond the Form: Practical Taijiquan.

As we step into fall, many of you might be asking, “why should I attend a seminar like this? I don’t even study Taichi!” That’s completely valid; however, KiMudo is a mixed martial art, borrowing elements from taekwondo, judo, hapkido, and beyond. To help you on your way, NAKA will be hosting several seminars each year to expand your knowledge of part of our art like hapkido or give you a chance to step outside your wheelhouse.

Okay, but why Taichi?

While taichi is a slow, dance-like martial art, with little practical application to self defense. In this seminar we will show that nothing could be further from the truth! Taiji as a system is flexible, dynamic, and has broad principles and applications that can be applied to any martial art!

In this seminar, we will be focusing on Tuishou (push hands) and Sansho (free hand application). Both elements can be freely incorporated into your existing KiMudo practice to enhance and elevate your existing techniques. Students should expect to come away from the seminar with an improved sense of balance, body awareness, and new ways to upset an attacker’s posture–all key elements of Kimudo, Judo, Aikido, Hapkido, and any successful takedown!

Sign up for one, two, or four sessions!

    • WHEN: Saturday, September 9ths and Sunday, September 10th
    • WHERE: Elkhorn Martial Art Center @ 799 e. Geneva Street, Elkhorn, WI
