Friday Classes
This summer, Elkhorn started Tai Chi and Weapons on Fridays! Please join our other instructors, Chance, Nick Zwirlein, and myself at the end of the week for Tai Chi and Weapons classes! As a reminder, green belts on up can compete in weapons forms and padded weapons sparring. The time to start practicing for fall is now.
- 4:45-5:30 pm ⇒ Beginners Tai chi
- 5:45-6:30 pm ⇒ Weapons Class (Bo Staff)
- 6:45-7:30 pm ⇒ Tui Shou/San Shou Self Defense

Thank Your Black Belt Instructors
Starting June 26th, 2023, our black belts will be stepping up as substitute instructors while Master Nick and I are out of town. We are all incredibly fortunate to have so many black belt teachers to help out and act as examples. When I studied karate, we were lucky to have two black belts in any given class. Without these friends and students, we would not be able to stay open. Most of these guys are volunteering their time to help you prepare for your next test. While I might prefer chocolate, the best way to show your appreciation is to give them at least as much respect as you would give Master Perk.
Closed June 30-July 4th
In addition, Elkhorn Flying Dragons will be closed June 30th through July 4th for some renovations. Use this time to relax and spend time with family. When you come back, we are going to start test preparation on a brand new look.
Test Around the Corner
As of today, our next Color Belt Test is exactly one month away. The July Colored Belt Test coincides with our annual Picnic at East Troy Memorial Park. There will be only one group. This test will start at 9 am for all ranks. For this test only, students are encouraged to wear any Elkhorn Flying Dragons tee-shirt and black pants. Students will be testing outside. I encourage you to head out to your local park or back yard to throw a couple kicks, go through your form, and try taking a roll. More information about the test and picnic will be sent out after Independence Day weekend!
That means the time to start practicing is now. The next best time will be July 5th with the brand new mats.
