Elkhorn Flying Dragons – February 2021
January was a busy month! Congratulations to the thirteen students who advanced to a new rank in the January promotion. We want to extend a special thank you to the black belts who help make our belt tests possible.
Last year threw us an unprecedented challenge. In particular, masks and social distancing have proven challenging to martial arts, but we continue to rise to the occasion. The discipline you continue to show is truly inspiring, and sets a good example. As we reach the third quarter, let’s finish strong and kick COVID out.
Upcoming Events
- Black Belt Pre-Test → February 20 at 2:30 p.m.
- Colored Belt Test → March 20 at 9:30 a.m.
The January shirt order has been placed. We will inform you when they are available.
Logo Masks are now available for $6 in our pro-shop. They look good, feel very comfortable, and feature adjustable ear loops.
Due to current restrictions, there will likely be no spring tournament this year. We are investigating locations and availability for an outdoor tournament in the early summer.
Schedule Change
Starting Monday, February 1st, we will be changing our Monday and Wednesday late class schedule. In order to offer more schedule flexibility, we will combine weapons and advanced forms. this combined class will be offered on both Mondays and Wednesdays. The first half hour will focus on our weapon of the month, and we will work on advanced forms and material for blue belt and up in the second half.
This February, we are focusing on nunchaku. Speak with the Perks if you would like to join us or get more information.

The Next Step in your Journey
We would like to encourage everyone green stripe and up to join us for Intermediate Class. In this class, we take a deeper dive into rolls, throws, self defense, control techniques, and more. These classes have been smaller of late, and students get more one-on-one instruction with the black belts. Intermediate classes are offered on Monday/Wednesday 5:45-6:45 p.m. and Tuesdays/Thursdays 4:30-5:30 p.m. We hope to see you there!
