Fall 2024 Weapons Classes and Schedule

Starting autumn 2024, Elkhorn is trying something a little different to prepare you for black belt. Remember that each black belt candidate is required to create and demonstrate a form of their own creation. For my green belts on up, the time to start working on these forms is now.

We want to give you the tools you need to try classes and create a form for your tests and tournament.

The New Schedule

This fall, we are making some Small tweaks to the schedule after Labor Day to accommodate an additional weapons class.

Monday: Advanced KiMudo class is now Tai Chi.

Tuesday: Tai Chi Class is now Weapons (Tonga) Class.

Wednesday: Now has an Open Mat time slot from 3:45 to 4:15. No other changes.

Thursday: Women’s/street self defense is now Advanced KiMudo class.

There are NO CHANGES to any of the Beginner or intermediate class times.

For those of you who are more visual people, the updated schedule is below

Autumn 2024 Martial Arts Schedule

Upcoming weapons classes:

Nick perk demonstrating a classical pose with kama

Let's try spinning–Elkhorn students polish their bo staff technique

  • Bō Staff Class  – Monday- 4:15 pm
  • Tonfa Class – Tuesday – 4:15 pm
  • Kama Class Wednesday – 6:15 pm
  • Kung Fu Fans Class – Saturday – 10:15 am

For people not ready to commit, we have plenty Bō Staff and Fans to try; however, our additional tonfa and kama are limited. Everyone above green belt is welcome to try Bo Staff and Fans class, but we would prefer you preregister for tonfa and kama so we can order weapons if necessary.

If you are interested in a weapons class, sign up using this link (LINK), or on the paper sign up sheet in the Dojang.

C-position is for cookie dough sales!

In somewhat related news; our Annual Cookie sale is now open! We have some exciting incentives for you this year.

  • – As always, students earn 5 dragon dollars per box/tin/unit sold. Dragon dollars spend just like cash in our pro shop. Use them for new weapons, sparring gear, tournament, test fees, or anything else you might pay us for.
  • – New this year: Any student selling 25 units or more gets a free ticket to the Halloween party Friday October 25th (more information on this as we get closer to spooky season!)
  • – If the school sells more than 500 units combined this year, The Halloween party will become a pizza party! Last year we sold around 400 units, so that works out to only a handful of boxes more per person, and everyone gets pizza!
  • – The student who sells the most units will recieve a FREE shirt in our next order. Miss Amanda is hard at work on the next T-shirt design, and we can’t wait to show it to you!

Did someone say Tournament?

That’s right – Tournament is right around the corner on Sunday October 6th.

Early-Bird registration opens August 25th, and will close September 20th. Register during this period and save $20 off registration at the door!  You must to attend three (3) tournaments before your blackbelt test. DO NOT WAIT until the last minute. Participating in tournament is a great way to test your skills against other NAKA students and form friendships that will last your entire martial arts career.
