As part of the Market Street roadway extension project and Elkhorn Area High School expansion a Sanitary Sewer relay is required across Geneva Street just east of the west entrance to the Elkhorn Business Centre. Said relay requires open cutting the roadway and hence a roadway closure. The City has worked with both our Engineer and Contractor on ways to mitigate and reduce the duration and impacts of the closure as much as possible but still facilitate installation of sewer and restoration with concrete pavement, curing, asphalt and gravel shouldering. The direct closure of Geneva Street will only be in the area of the crossing and will allow local access to be maintained at all times to businesses and residents. A detour for through traffic will be placed from Getzen Street to CTH H, see attached detour exhibit. Advanced messaging will be installed to convey when traffic restrictions will occur. Anticipated timeframes of traffic restrictions are as follows:
- · Week of 07/16/2018 – Bi-directional traffic maintained on westbound / northern half of Geneva Street, including through and local traffic
- · Week of 07/23/2018 – Closure and detouring of Geneva Street, local traffic access maintained as described above and illustrated on attached detour exhibitPlease note that this schedule could change weather pending and progress.
This release is intended to provide specific project information for businesses and residents within detoured sections with local traffic access for the week of July 23rd.
